The role of the Outreach & Communications Coordinator is a member of the Outreach and Communications Team of the Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo (MICE) and is responsible for supporting  the festival’s public-facing communications and promotional strategies.

Duties will include: writing copy for marketing initiatives (including but not limited to press releases, social media posts, blog posts, and mailings), coordinating social media posts, liaising with the creative design team and determining visual needs, engaging with both local arts and comic press organizations for coverage, coordinating and hosting MICE-related promotional events, and more. This role will have a direct effect on crafting and informing the “voice” of MICE.

This role primarily reports to the Outreach and Communications Team but there will be collaboration with all members of the MICE organizational team. There will also be the opportunity to get involved with other aspects of the festival planning process, should you choose.

A knowledge of and excitement for independent comics is highly encouraged. MICE organizers meet bi-weekly on Sunday evenings (Eastern Time Zone), shifting to weekly in July. While it’s not required to live in the Boston area, the ability to be in Boston from Friday 9/29/23 until 10/2/23 to support the festival  on site is highly encouraged.

This is a volunteer position, though we are happy to offer a $200 honorarium as a token of our gratitude as well as a lot of snacks and cheese on site.
