Jason Shiga is an innovative cartoonist from Oakland, CA whose graphic novel Meanwhile (Amulet Books, 2010) broke new ground in comic storytelling with a “pick any path” format. His most ambitious project is his webcomic Demon, a dark comedy about an immortal man’s misadventures in finding a way to die. The series – an L.A. Times Book Prize finalist, an NPR Best Book of the Year, and Eisner Award winner – is now published by First Second Books, with the final and 4th volume debuting at MICE! Jason has just returned from a year in residency in Angoulème, France, where he has been working on his new comic, The Box, which expands on the themes and narrative mechanics that Shiga developed in Meanwhile.
Jason will appear in MICE’s Atrium exhibition area on October 21-22, 2017 at University Hall (1815 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA). MICE is free and open to the public.
Jason will host an Interactive Comics workshop on Sunday, October 22 at 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM in the Eliot Room (Lower Level, University Hall).
