Kerascoët

thumb-kerascoetKerascoët is the shared pen name of French illustrators Marie Pommepuy and Sébastien Cosset. They are best known in the US for their graphic novel Beautiful Darkness, where their fanciful cartooning frames a grim tale of mortality written by Fabien Vehlmann. The married couple met while attending the Olivier de Serres art school and now work together in comics and animation.

Kerascoët have worked on numerous bandes dessinées, children’s books, as well as the animated television series Petit Vampire. Their comics have been published in English to critical acclaim: Beauty (NBM) was nominated for the Ignatz Award for Outstanding Graphic Novel, and Beautiful Darkness (Drawn & Quarterly) was nominated for an Eisner Award in 2015.

“The first six pages of Beautiful Darkness comprise one of the more dramatic sequences you’re likely to see in any comics work…It’s creepy, scary, and intriguing, a potent dare to stop reading, and an irresistible lure to turn the page.” Robot 6 / Comic Book Resources
